Landscape 13 – Garden Steps with Central Palm

Garden Steps with Central Palm by Mourad Darwish presents a planted landscape organized around a tall palm. Low curved stone steps occupy the foreground, while greenery and rock beds gather to the left. A path continues farther into the garden on the right, giving the scene several connected routes through its forms.

The palm establishes the strongest vertical within the composition. Its trunk rises above the lower steps and spreading plants, giving the garden a clear center. Warm gold and gray passages suggest light across the ground, while varied greens create depth and texture within the surrounding foliage.

Gouache marks connect the built and natural elements. The stone edges remain legible, yet their surfaces share the expressive handling of leaves and soil. Curving steps introduce a measured rhythm through the freer planted areas, allowing the garden to feel ordered without losing the variety of growing forms.

The work offers an inviting view shaped by movement through a cultivated place. Its appeal comes from the relationship between a strong central tree and the smaller paths and beds around it. Garden Steps with Central Palm encourages the eye to travel through the scene, discovering changes of texture and light within a warm, closely observed garden.
